The big day - what to expect

01

attire - Garden Party

Our wedding will be hosted at the Villa Bentota - a leafy villa on the southern coastline. Keep in mind the weather in April will be warm and dry, reaching mid-30s. We suggest guests wear comfortable clothing with comfortable shoes for the outdoors.

03

cocktails

Following the Poruwa ceremony, cocktails and canapes will be provided while we prepare for dinner.

02

the Poruwa ceremony

We will be having a traditional Buddhist ceremony on a Po-ru-wa, a decorated wooden platform. It will involve a series of rituals performed by us and our families including: exchanging rings, Buddhist prayers, traditional dancers and just a few more customs! The ceremony should take approximately 30 minutes.

04

dinner - Lankan and Aussie

Dinner served will be a fusion of the best of our favourite Sri Lankan and Australian dishes. Get keen for a live hopper station and some midnight treats!

other information

01

getting to the venue from Colombo

There will be a shuttle bus leaving Colombo, on the morning of April 8th, to transport guests to Bentota (the area of the venue). Let us know if you would like a seat and we will circulate information closer to the date. There will be space for your baggage.

03

visa

If you are not a Sri Lankan passport holder you will need a visit/tourist visa to enter the country. You can apply online for an e-visa, an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), which will grant you double entry to Sri Lanka and is valid for 30 days. This can be done in early 2024 - we will send out a reminder!

02

attire in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country but you can still dress comfortably for the summer. You would only have to dress modestly at religous places and these sites usually offer scarves and sarongs if your shoulders or legs are too exposed.

04

cash or card?

You can bring both cash and card but smaller shops would prefer cash. ATMs are readily available in the larger towns and cities and accept most major western cards. We recommend getting a travel card for a better rate. Tap and go is not available.
